With most airlines nickel and diming passengers for what were once complimentary services, one carrier wants to take folks from the U.S. to Ireland and the U.K. for as little as 10 euros ($12.70) each way.

Irish airline Ryanair plans to offer the ultra-low-priced service from London's Stansted and Dublin airports to New York, Florida, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston for as little as the cost of a paperback book.

How will they do it? Put it on the backs of the rich people, of course. "Economy class will be very cheap -- around 10 euros. But our business class will be very expensive," said a Ryanair executive. "There's always 10-15 percent who'll pay whatever it costs for a wide seat."

This seems like a pretty good model for the airline industry as a whole -- rich people pay huge amounts to subsidize everyone, and the rest of us can sit on milk crates strapped to bales of hay. Either way, we all wake up in London, and some of us will have a lot of extra dough to spend on pints.
