These are heady days of political firsts -- first the nation elected its first black president, then the small town of Silverton, Ore. elected Stu Rasmussen, the first transgender mayor. Rasmussen has served two previous terms as mayor before coming out with his penchant for cross-dressing in dresses, three-inch heels and, judging by the picture on his Web site, tasteful tribal jewelry.
Though he has breast implants (um, nice cans, Mr. Mayor), Rasmussen has no plans to undergo gender reassignment surgery and is heterosexual, with a girlfriend of 35 years.
Stu beat out the incumbent mayor in a race maturely focused on policy issues. Says the 60-year-old politician on his site, "I just happen to be transgendered -- something I didn't even know the word for until I discovered it on the Internet."
Does this mean the world's first toonophile mayor could be next?

Wait a bleeping second. A lovely lady named Carmen Kontur-Gronquist was forced out of her mayoral office in a small pacific northwest town, due to a pre-office-holding picture of her in bra and panties. WTF?! And he/she/this guy stands there in a bra and says he/she's a transgender? And he got elected? Double WTF?! Something's seriously wrong with America. Giamongus contradictive standards everywhere. We're screwed.

I am proud of her for winning the election. It is still sad that the injustices you stated Northerner still exist in this country. I do find this as a good step for the small precentage of transgenders in the world. I personaly have researched the things people do behind closed door and one that I have fallen in love with it S&M (Sadism and Masochism...roughly translated Master and Slave) But I do not do it for the sex, I love the control. The fact that my slave, a transgender male to female, hangs on my every word like I am her god, and she loves serving my every whim. From her I have learned so much about this precentage of society and am delighted to see them coming from the shadows in America. The people in this country are too bigoted and set in thier ways. Ok, I've officially heard it all now. I used to live in NJ and I thought the McGreevy divorce was too much for front page news. Now we have transgender man with breasts better than mine who is not going through sexual reassignment surgery because he has a girlfriend. I still have not gotten over Obama being elected and now I read this one. I have officially lost my appetite for breakfast this morning.
