If you're like us and spend half your time at work surfing the net for distractions, you've probably been distracted a lot by Felicia Day. Day writes and stars in the hit web sitcom "The Guild" and acted in both "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" and "Legend of Neil." "The Guild," which is about to launch its second season, centers on a group of "World of Warcraft" players meeting in the real world for the first time. So she's got a pretty good idea how a guy like you can meet a girl without giving up your crippling addiction to WOW. In other words, she reveals how to woo on WOW.
So what advice would you give to guy trying to meet a girl in World Of Warcraft? Well, most of the female avatars in World of Warcraft are actually guys. So if you're a guy looking to meet girls, you need to make sure to put the person you're interested in through that vetting process. And if you're a girl, be prepared to fight guys off with a stick because there's a lot more of them than there are female gamers. You should join a large guild and pair with other people to go on missions. Try and meet people who are on your same level.
Would it matter to you if the guy's a noob? Yeah, I hate to say that, but if you're a noob you probably won't get a second glance. Just like in real life when a guy drives a Ferrari, it might not be an automatic thumbs up, but it does catch the eye. So if you have the Ferrari of broadswords, yeah.
That's a big plus. I mean, it's not necessarily a big plus, but it definitely gets you a second look. Whereas if you're in some torn cross-stitch pants, you're probably not even going to be a blip on the radar.
Sure, you wouldn't want to be seen with a guy like that. Probably not.
Felicia Day explains what she looks for in a guy's avatar after the jump.

Funny stuff Felicia! So here is the big question, what if the Ferrari of a broadsword was acquired via powerleveling or from buying the account? What if the sword was purchased with gold that was purchased? Would there be even that much more potential because he A. has in game riches and B. could potentially have real world riches... feel free to email me about this and we can discuss it.. hayden@mogs.com

If you've got the real-world money to blow on WoW stuff, you're still in line with her theory that judging people based on their possessions is a good idea.
Personally, I tend to look for things like humor, intelligence, abs, and if you're leveling talent build looks like you just picked stuff at random or if you're actually prepping for an endgame spec.

So how does a girl meet a decent guy in WoW? There's got to be a better way to get to know people on WoW. Maybe a web page or forum for WoW players who want to make friends or even who are looking?

Wow haha I never expected to see this flash on my main AIM page. I'm a (so I've been told) hot chick who plays WoW and first lesson I learned, never ever, under any circumstances announce to the WoW world you're female! It's fun to find people who play this incredibly popular game who are actually quite normal and many times good looking. It's such a fun game but I'm afraid I have more in -game gold most of the guys. I woo myself ;-)

Haha, this is totally freaky. I'm a girl WoW player and I read your explanations! I've been called cute and hot on WoW and all the stuff you say is totally true. People know I'm a girl, but I've never gotten dangerous guys trying to talk to me. I think it's fun to know I can play a total boy game and not have tons of guys on my case about it, they kind of envy me. ;-) Great job, you're awesome!

Reading through that article, I don't get the feeling she actually plays wow. I don't see how she is able to write a competent show about it that actual wow players would enjoy. Who calls quests missions. Psh.

She does in fact play WoW. Our guild uses vent and the in-game calendar just like most guilds. I've quested with her in Nagrand -- err, is that "gone on missions together"?

So if you hookup with someone in WOW, aren't they just cheating with you in Second Life?

I don't think their avatar means shit--I don't care how much thought a guy puts into making their WoW character's shit match, that's just a sign of flaaamming. Besides, the ones who look good in WoW look like shit IRL. Being a high level and helping with quests and shit is nice though; I exploit having a vagina to the fullest when it comes to getting free shit on video games.
Write a guide on how to fend off the hordes of basement dwellers trying to get some action. I think it's hard for chicks to walk the fine line between getting guys to be nice and help them, and getting guys to help her but soon turn into freakish stalkers.

Hehe, using "shit" as substitute for every second word is a good way to fence off guys - at least the smarter ones who like "shit" like spelling and proper conversation. Of course it will make the basement dwellers feel that you're same level with'em. So two advices from a guy that will help:
1. Don't say shit, kid!
2. Tell'em you're married both ingame and irl.

Omg, are you serious?!? WoW players anger me because they literally have crippling addictions that the average consumer is going to pay for. Whatever happened to going out in the 1st Life and actually meeting someone? WoW players are simply lost souls with no social lives and no desire to better themselves or the world around them, so many people really don't care if you don't meet other people. As a matter of fact, it's a good idea that you don't meet other people, keep your genes out of our pool and die the miserable, lonely death that you were destined for, but hey: at least your character rules in the game to which you devote all your time! W00T for you!

You are stereotyping WoW players. I know plenty of people who are perfectly functional members of society to have jobs, real friends and real girlfriends, etc. Yes there are some people who are obsessed and need to work on their lives (myself included) but hey, stereotyping is one of the worst aspects of human nature and I dun like it!

Seriously? You have to be kidding.
I play WoW... I know plenty of people who play WoW. We are all social people who are doing well for ourselves. I really don't think I would be doing so well in college if I was a pathetic loser with a crippling addiction.
Know people before you pass ridiculous judgment.

lmao dude you are such a raging idiot. I play wow, I love the game to the point it is unhealthy. Yet, I hold a successful fulltime career/job, maintain a very stable relationship wiht my live-in boyfriend and I possess a college degree & I'm going back for another.
Crippling addiction? Fack no! Go slit your wrists troll

Funny article, but it really is pointless. Plus, it encourages bad behavior in online guys that are too scared to approach a woman. It sets women up as purely material, and going after "The Doctor, or Lawyer" so to speak.
Bad Form.
Guys if you want a woman develop inner strength, find your purpose in life and let nothing stop you, and be funny. Everything else is pretty pale in comparison. BE THE QUALIFIER, not the chaser!
