The simple, hand-crafted oddity has one function: You press a button and it claps for you. It's available in red, green, orange, black or white from Laikingland.

You'd think this might be available at a novelty shop, but the artist-designed specialty item runs about $400, much more than your standard whoopee cushion. Smith claims that it's "for when your ideas are great but no one else agrees."

We suspect Smith may have wished he had an applause machine while developing the applause machine.
