A record number of retailers will have discounts on Cyber Monday, the ceremonial first day of the online holiday shopping season.According to a survey by Shopzilla, 84 percent of online retailers plan to offer Cyber Monday promotions, up from 72 percent a year ago. Marketing experts cite the the faltering economy, as well as the ultra-competitive nature of the online shopping game, for this increase.
Despite the bad economy -- or perhaps because of expectations for discounts -- a separate survey by Maritz found that about 30 percent more people plan to shop on Cyber Monday this year than last.
Only time will tell if this leads to an influx of people participating in Overdraft Tuesday.
