One in four office employees accessed pornography during the workday in October, according to Neilsen Online. This figure is up about 10 percent from last October, and now more people are clicking on adult Web sites between nine and five than during any other time of the day. Experts attribute this increase to more free porn sites that are easy to log on to, an evolving sense that looking at pornography is socially acceptable and the impression that in a dodgy economy managers are too busy with more important issues to care.
Nevertheless, surfing porn on the clock still exposes employers to sexual harassment lawsuits, and computers to viruses and spyware.
This basically means that if you get canned for having a cache full of smut, you should know that at least a quarter of your former co-workers will be hypocrites when they refer to you as "that filthy pervert."

At home that's your own business, Its unprofessional in the regular everyday business world. I can't imagine when there is time, most workers have enough to do for eight hours a day.

You are completely delusional if you think that everybody in an office has something to do all the time. Have you ever seen Office Space? The vast majority of office workers are exactly like the main character.

We've absolutely become the dumbest society in the world. No ethics & a relaxed attitude toward personal life standards run up & down the ladder from the little guy to high level officials. If we don't return to an age of self decency, seeing the importance of regulating as individuals then someone needs to tell me where the carnival atmosphere of today takes us into future generations.... Lap dance anyone?

In my office you get 1 warning.... That's it. If it happens again, you are out the door.

They should be fired immediatley. No second chances. There are too many people out of work who would love their job.

Your exactly correct. Porno is never acceptable within an office...please it is not as if the guy/gal opened up a cute joke a friend sent, but browsing porn sites..I agree, not even a warning, if they are that lazy and bored they definitely need to be out of the job and put someone in who is actually willing to work and make a contribution!

There is nothing wrong with looking at porn but I seriously doubt you should be doing it at work >.>

I own a fairly large company. At any given time I have 60+ employees working at their desks or in the studio. During the month of September I fired 24 employees for pornography usage during business hours. How did I do it? My very astute IT department can monitor every where these unfortunates go. They signed a contract for the proper use of office computers so I will have no repercussions legally. I just hired 20 new employees and its smooth sailing. Thanks IT. Watch porn at home in your greasy den. Dont mucky up MY offices!!
