When you think about tiny speakers, the immediate word association may be "tinny." But there's a lot to said for having a space-conscious sound setup, something companies like Orb Audio seem ready to capitalize on -- offering everything from the two-speaker basic setup to the full blown home theater. The Orb Satellite system is made from a carbon steel speaker, about the size of a baseball. The home theater setup includes five Satellites, like the ones pictured, and a 12-inch, 200-watt subwoofer for $800. Orb Audio is Internet-only, so there is no external retail markup, which could keep the prices as small as the speakers. The downside, of course, is you can't hear what the speakers sound like at the Buy More.
Our favorite is the Quick Pack -- two 4-inch diameter speakers for $239. You'd just better hope nobody mistakes one for the 8-ball and plays billiards with it.
