And now we present the women who make you actually want to go in to the office. Are you a hot girl with a cool job? Write us so we can appreciate your ravishing beauty. What's your job?
I am a series regular on Arcade, on ManiaTV. Which is where I play video games, review video games, talk about video games, write editorials and argue about topics that are important -- or not so important -- in the gaming world.
I happened to see a casting notice for a "female videogame expert" and basically out of curiosity sent in my headshot and a long-winded e-mail listing my favorite games. I think calling Heavenly Sword "God of War: Boobs Edition" and admitting that I cried during Metal Gear Solid 4 cinched the job for me!
Does anything suck about being a professional gamer?
There have been a few times that I have had to stay up basically for days, to beat a game that I really, really dislike because I know I have a review due for it. It can be pretty frustrating, when all I want to do is break the disc in half, spit on it, then mail it back to the developer as-is; but I know I have to put at least nine more hours in to finish.

Find out what video game characters Kathryn would like to date after the jump.
Have you ever been hit on for your game skills?
I definitely get hit on more for my gaming skills than anything else. Men tend to be pretty surprised when they find out that my main interests are video games and comic books, so it's an easy icebreaker since that usually means we share some common ground. Or they see what a complete nerd I am, and it puts them at ease.
If you were going to date a video game character who would it be? What video game character are you most like?
I would probably go for Balthier, from Final Fantasy XII. He's sarcastic and cool, and with a change of clothes, could be damn hot! I also have a thing for Kratos, from God of War -- but I don't know if he's the dating type. And of course I'll always have a place in my heart for Solid Snake, since Metal Gear is my favorite game franchise. As for who I'm most like; in a perfect world, I'd love to say Ada Wong from Resident Evil 4 meets Kitana from Mortal Kombat. Because I would be ridiculously kick-ass. BUT, in real life, I've been told I remind people of Mitsuru from Persona 3 and Tifa from FFVII. And didn't Daria have a game, back in the 90s?

Whoa momma. She should have her own show on G4. Oh hell, G4 is too small. NBC wanna take on what people actually like these days and do a comic book and video game with Kathryn as host? Talk about money in the can...

Who cares? She's average at best and the only people who would want to date her are people that want to date girls with a brain age of 10. Come on, playing video games as a career? What a loser.

Aw how cute, a boy ragging on a female gamer/writer who's job is most likely more fulfilling than his. I'm pretty sure her age, both physical and mental, are higher than yours. I'm also pretty sure that most of the women playing video games professionally or not don't have the mental age of 10. Do you even play video games Carter? By the sounds of your comment, I think not.

well your a loser.... shes making money for it... and she could be very smart and mature but just has a passion for gaming dont put down someone else's career cause in the end you just sound like a boldy ignorant clsoed minded asshole. You probably work at mcdonalds too... thats why you hate the fact she has a cool job and shes getting paid. Lame.

She's not bad.
But she is nothing to my classmate, julia, who is a video game DESIGNER.

That pic on her site doesn't do her credit. Why not email her and invite her for a photoshoot.

Meh. She really isn't that hot. She's alright don't get me wrong here. I do think that Carter is a bit peeved that he didn't think of being a pro gamer / writer. Hey Carter, It does take more then the mentality of a 10 year old to write game reviews and. He echos what most parents though back in the 80's, "Come on, playing video games as a career?" Yes Carter, playing games for a career is real.

I think she's hot and she's got a Mario and Yoshi t-shirt. Now, my problem is that I quit playing video games back in the late 90s. I still remember games like Ice Climber, Tiger Heli, Double Dragon and of course Super Mario Bros and Mortal Kombat. Ask me about Final Fantasy and I'm clueless.
I wouldn't pick gaming as a career, but it wouldn't hurt as a free-lance part time gig.

OMG!!! I want that job!!! I'm female, I like games! Heh heh. No, actually, I wouldn't be able to get that job because it takes me years to finish one game. Anyway, there's nothing strange about a girl who likes video-games. There is, however, something strange about a girl who loves reading, reading manga, watching Japanese/Asian TV shows/ movies, hates sports, and gets straight A's. Yeah, that's me. I'm strange.
