The Christmas and New Year's period produces a year-high spike in sexual activity.

According to leading condom manufacture Trojan, prophylactic sales peak right before New Year's Eve. Despite these extra precautions, however, more babies are conceived between Christmas and New Year than any other time of the year.

This late December sex explosion isn't just an American trend. The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany reports heavy Christmas to New Year's sexual activity "is a characteristic of all Christian cultures in which it has been evaluated." Experts attribute this seasonal uptick in getting down to increased leisure time, New Year's resolutions to have children, and alcohol.

Also, let's face it, unless you want to hear a choir sing or see "It's a Wonderful Life" again, there isn't a whole lot to watch on television.
