Chances are you're probably reading this in a cubicle. Through the haze of your angst and despair, you may not believe there are amazing jobs out there -- way out there -- waiting for applications. For those of us who do dare to dream, there is one truly perfect position: earning a salary of $100,000 as caretaker of a beautiful island with pristine beaches off the coast of Australia. Queensland tourism officials are looking for someone who will spend six months exploring the islands of Australia's Great Barrier Reef -- living rent-free in a three-bedroom villa with a pool on the immaculate Hamilton Island. The "caretaker" will write weekly blog posts, and also file a photo diary and video footage of his/her time on the reef.
After a news report about this "best job in the world" appeared in the U.K., over 850,000 people flooded the Web site that was offering it, crashing the server. The site still isn't back up at the time of this report, but we imagine that when it is, there will be plenty more applications.
