We never thought it would come to this, but you can get green with your golden. The NoPoPo battery, a rechargable battery from Aqua Power System, runs on beer, apple juice, cola, saliva and urine. Yes, urine. The system works with a basic chemical reaction between magnesium and carbon. If you want to try one out (with soda, please use soda) you can buy it for $15.

That's just creepy! I don't even think I'd buy a product that could be recharged with my pee.... it's just gross I don't care how many other things can charge it!!!

I think this is awesome! I wish we could get past our "western" way of thinking and realize that we are going to have to make some difficult adjustments to deal with the ever growing demand on the resources available. Limited resources + unlimited reproduction= sacrifices. Besides, this is just plain urine. If you are a healthy person, your urine is reasonably sterile. I just wish these didn't cost so much.

Did you just read the title of the article merydith?! It clearly states that you can use beer, pop, apple juice and spit. That means you don't have to pee on it, in case that sentence wasn't as obvious to you as to me. I also agree with Noemi, in the fact that urine is almost always sterile and free of germs.

This is amazing. Imagine what else we can do with energy. Especially when you're in the car and need to change a battery in your camera, just take some of your old soda sitting next to you and charge it up.

OUCH, according to the site each battery can only be recharged 2-5 times! too bad, I could totally rock soda batteries When im in a instance in W.O.W. I hate having to switch of my nice Wireless mouse to my really old corded one while I recharge.
