Though Facebook started as a tool for college students to scout out potential hookups, its uses continue to multiply. In fact, Johnny Law is now capitalizing on the social networking technology.New Zealand police apprehended a burglar after security camera footage of him was posted on Facebook. The video shows the burglar -- wearing a face-covering balaclava and carrying a bag of tools -- trying to cut a safe open inside a bar's storage room. Eventually, the thief takes off his face covering and immediately realizes he is being recorded by a security camera.
''He looks around and sees it and there's just a shocked look of 'gutted,'" said the bar's assistant manager of the video. ''His face definitely drops.''
Once cops posted the footage on Facebook, they say the identification was "very, very quick." A spokesman for the police department said that he would certainly be using the social networking site in the future for similar situations. If he's single, he may want to look into alternate uses as well.
