Of course you know, we love the ladies -- especially those who have cast off the shackles of sexism to rise to positions of power in the oppressively patriarchal world of American politics. Powerful women are hot!
So click through and check out some of our nation's most lovely legislators, mayors and alderladies from each state and one from D.C. Did we miss anyone? Do you demand a recount? Let us know in the comments.
The 51 Hottest Female Politicians
Alabama - Martha Roby
Montgomery City Council (R)
Was this picture taken last week or when Martha was in high school? We're not sure. She's perpetually 18!
AlabamaGOP.com
Alaska - Sarah Palin
Governor (R)
Governor, vice-presidential candidate, likely 2012 presidential candidate, hockey grandma, maverick and Sarah Palin manages to do it all.

Arizona - Maria Baier
Phoenix Councilmember (R) Baier used to date Hunter S. Thompson. That's awesome.
the City of Phoenix
Arkansas - Sarah Lewis
Fayetteville City Council
As both a councilwoman and a doctoral candidate at the University of Arkansas, Lewis shares a love of teaching and the natural world. We wouldn't mind learning a bit about her natural world.
the City of Fayetteville
California - Mary Bono Mack
House of Representatives (R) Sonny Bono's widow will make you forget all about his more famous wife. Hubba hubba!

Colorado - Carroll Morgan
State Senator - What's cuter than a redheaded state senator? A redheaded state senator who knows kung fu.
senmorgancarroll.com
Connecticut - Gayle Slossberg
State Senate (D) Oh Gayle, we'd say anything just to make you smile.
connecticut.gov
Delaware - Melanie George Marshall
State House of Representatives (D) Mel (we call her Mel) is a Georgetown and Penn-educated lawyer who does volunteer work for victims of domestic violence. Gives us a pro bono.

Florida - Joy Cooper
Mayor Hallandale Beach (D)
Those eyes, those lips, that hair! We wouldn't mind hanging with Mayor Cooper.
Henry Leutwyler
Georgia - Alisha Morgan
State House of Representatives (D)
At 30, Morgan is the youngest member of the entire Georgia State Assembly. But that hasn't stopped her from being named "2008 Legislator of the Year" by the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus or hanging with LL Cool J at the BET awards. Precociousness is so hot.

Obviously, one thing that is not considered "hot" by whoever selected these is a woman who has real power. The omissions are glaring.

The ONLY one on the list who I would consider even close to "hot" is Sarah Palin.

WTF? There wasn't a single 'hot' one in that list. Unless of course, you're counting the hot flashes that half of them are probably having. Just because you're a 5 amongst 3's, that doesn't make you hot. It's ok to admit there are no hot women in politics.

Central CA once had Maxim's worldwide No. 4 in Nicole Parra, whose time in the state assembly expired by term limits in November 2008.
Get to know Ashley Swearengin too, Fresno mayor
newly elected in 2008.
Two examples of beauty and brains.
