There are many opportunities to enjoy beautiful women at a sporting event, whether you fancy professional cheerleaders, fans in snugly fitting cropped jerseys or the players' well-maintained trophy wives. But we're not sure any of them can compete with the heady combination of sports knowledge and sex and appeal found in an attractive female sportscaster.

Obviously the folks behind this article have never seen NESN's Heidi Whatney. Do a search and see for yourself.

As a woman, I think other women suck as sportscasters. As analysts, the only one I respect is Jackie McMullan. Otherwise, gimme a good looking guy any day!

Shut up, you fool! (And learn how to spell.) Sports are just about the only form of escape we have left from the otherwise horrific events of our everyday lives. The economy sucks, we are in two wars, and thousands are losing their jobs. Can you blame people for wanting to enjoy something? And get off the whole ad revenue thing too -- that too has already taken a hit. Now get out of the way -- I'm watching the game!

Want to know why they tend to be of lower quality than male sportscasters?
Because for an audience to accept a woman AT ALL, they need to be attractive. They don't have to be knockouts, but they need to look good. Neither men nor women bitch like sex-obsessed middle schoolers when a male sportscaster is unattractive—they can employ anyone who knows the game. If a woman is unattractive, though, even if she's knowledgeable, if she holds a position where she has to appear on camera, she's at a disadvantage, because men (in general) will react negatively to her.
Another thing: being unattractive is only part of it. I think many men feel resentful toward women who know more than they do, and the comments here confirm that. Even other women seem to only want them to be "seen and not heard". KNOWING WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT is even a disadvantage for a woman.
So yeah, female sportscasters are usually less knowledgeable than their male counterparts, but only because most of you actually prefer it that way.

As someone else has already said, I thought we'd be voting for a guy (after all, they're the majority of the sportscasting population).
So how about it? :-)

None of these ladies are particularly hot. I mean, I'd do one of them if I had the chance, but that ain't saying an awful lot. Hannah Storm's a better babe IMHO. And NONE of these women can come close to Jayne Kennedy or Phyllis George. Those were the two ORIGINAL Sportsbabes.

You guys are idiots. This poll has been going on for a month now. It started with 50 of the top sportscasters, and most of the girls you all have mentioned were in the initial 50. BUT! America has spoken and now we have the TOP 5.
With that said, my vote is for Molly Sullivan. Sports Illustrated is also advocating a vote for her.

Bonnie Bernstein is awesome, and she knows her shit too. I wanna marry her and have 14 children. That thompson girl is pretty hot too, and the sullivan girl if she had some real eyebrows. But I love Bonnie, she's the one that would churn my stomach if I ever met her. Maybe the thompson girl too, but not as bad. Locally I would vote for Katherine Tappen, and Heidi Watney. I've seen many red sox players just get nervous when Heidi interviews them. She totally throws them off their game. Kind of like Obama without a teleprompter.
