Ah, Groundhog's Day, possibly the most ridiculous of all the non-gifting holidays. This year, however, the annual celebration is a little more exciting than usual as two of the furry little soothsayers are locked in a stand-off for the ultimate seasonal prediction.Punxsutawney Phil, center of the largest Groundhog's Day celebration in Punxsutwaney, Pennsylvania, saw his shadow, signaling six more gloomy winter weeks. But Staten Island Chuck, New York's official groundhog meteorologist, begs to differ. Chuck, who has an 80 percent rate successful prediction rate since the 1980s, saw no shadow and expects an early spring.
Of course, there are plenty of other regional groundhogs if you want a third opinion, including our favorite, Balzac Billy.
