Everyone has fantasized about using "the force" to lift the remote or strangle the boss. At this year's Toy Fair, our seventh-grade dreams came true when we tested out "The Force Trainer," a toy that uses brainwaves to allow players to manipulate a training sphere (also known as a ping-pong ball) within a 10-inch "training tower" (aka clear plastic tube).

If you're wondering how the force really works, dry EEG sensor technology transmits a player's brainwaves from a headset. That data is then transferred to a fan inside the base of the Trainer, which lifts the ball. The more the user concentrates, the greater the ability to control the ball's height and movement. (While there wasn't a headset or fan in our middle-school daydreams, this is still a lot closer than we've previously gotten to wish fulfillment.)

The key to doing it well, as we learned during our Jedi training session at Toy Fair, is to relax and think of nothing. Some Padawans in the room couldn't get the ball up, but we had no problem thinking of nothing.

It's expected to hit shelves for $130 in July 23. Later that day we will have modified it for beer pong.
