Awkward Hugs -- Shows of Affection That Miss Their Mark

Whether on the giving or receiving end, we've all suffered through an awkward hug. Be it an unwanted, misplaced or just a clumsy embrace, these difficult moments may just end up bringing us all closer together.

Now this acting performance could have earned Madonna and Sharon both an Oscar, but their faces gave them away. Have you ever seen two more ferocious smirks in your life?

I don't care to hug other people at all. Except for my son and his friends. But even then, my son has to initiate the hug because it just never enters my mind. He has good friends (even though they left a mess in my driveway last night) and if they want a hug after my son does, I would never hurt their feelings. Hugging them feels like an extension of hugging my son hello or goodbye.

And Jane, I keep a loaded Glock with round in the chamber by my bedside. You might want to skip my house.

What's wrong with old aunts who used to teach elementary schools hugging nieces and nephews? Sounds like whoever wrote that blurb under the picture of Stone and Madonna is the one with problems. Old elementary teachers are precisely the people we should embrace rather than the rather sad lot of liberal teachers brainwashing our children today--on the one hand telling us we have to love everybody, but on the other saying, "but don't touch" anybody. Who cares about Stone and Madonna? Their hug doesn't do much to advance the gay agenda. But denigrating old, childless elementary teachers is pretty nasty. No old, elementary teacher lasted long without in the classroom without loving children...and school used to be the only place some kids got hugs before the NEA turned teachers into spineless clones not disposed to hugging at all.

To the writer who says AOL is trying to "foist" homosexuality on people, I cringe at the thought of her not hugging her children. I cringe even more at the thought that if she saw me hugging my 7 year old daughter that she might think I am "foisting" homosexuality on someone. It is sick to think about. This world really is really going downhill, esp. when you can't hug someone without someone else thinking you are gay.

There are people in this world who are alone - totally alone. Sometimes the other touch they receive is a hug from someone who just loves all of humanity. Everyone needs a hug occassionally. Hugs, touch, a handshake - keep us in touch with a vital need we all have and that is the friendly touch of another human being.
