The LEGO brick turned 50 last year. Perhaps it's coincidence, but we've noticed that it has been complaining about its back and how when we build a tower, it can't stay up for very long. But the reliable brick has come a long way from the original look: LEGO isn't just a plastic toy, it's morphed into an art material and a computer-developing platform.

No childhood would be complete without the joy of LEGO bricks. With an imagination and opposable thumbs, there are countless hours of fun for a growing mind. Turns out the fun doesn't stop when you grow up. We've looked around and found some pretty amazing uses for LEGOs. If you have any laying around from your wonder years, maybe you too can create your own brick Tommy Gun.

Or perhaps the idea of detailing your car with LEGOs is reason enough to go out and buy a brand-new set of bricks. Check out our discoveries in the gallery below.
