Ever since that sorry bastard on "The Bachelor" apparently cried a bunch on national television, there's been a lot of Internet hateration directed at male tears.
First off, let me say this: I do not endorse men weeping. If another man is crying, I will quickly leave the room. If I am trapped with this wet blanket I will look away and ignore him, even going so far as to whistle to indicate that I do not notice he is dying inside. But, in spite of being remarkably uncomfortable with the human emotion known as sadness, I will say this: Drop this whole real-men-don't-cry BS.
Sure, no one wants to cry. No one wants to poop their pants either. But if you live long enough, no matter how manly you are, both of these two things will happen to you. Sorry. It's one of the unfortunate consequences of being alive.
If you disagree with me, know this: One day you will cry. And it probably won't be after a big game like Brett Favre or when talking about prisoner torture like George H. W. Bush. It'll probably be because you're exhausted and your boss insults you after busting your ass at work. Or because you're drunk and the girl you're supposed to meet up with stops returning your phone calls. Or because your friend publicly humiliates you, films it and puts it online.
My one piece of advice is this: Lie to yourself and everyone else if you want, but when you do cry, don't do it on television unless you want people on YouTube making fun of you for the rest of your life.
And if you need to cry, it certainly helps to make sure your moment drenched in tears fits into one of the following occasions:
Five Times It's OK for Men to Cry
1. When your dog dies.
2. After any permanent penile-related injury.
3. While watching "Brian's Song."
4. When you're talking about how much you love America.
5. When you're trying to convince your girlfriend you're truly sorry you cheated on her.
Men sometimes cry. Quarterback Brett Favre cried. Click here to see other men crying. Add your own photos of men crying, if you can stop sobbing.

I feel like you are making the same point as we women are, Brian: Cry all you want, but do it in private, and then keep it secret.

I feel that a man has emotions also and crying is a part of life. Jason went over board and I believe most of his tears were fake. Although I could only stand watching a few episodes of the Bachelor, I found them phoney and hinged on being an X rated film. When did he have time to find out if he was falling in love, when all they were doing was making out?

How about crying at the birth of your child... even that is #1 compared to the top 5 listed!

I agree this sentence" no one wants to cry. No one wants to poop their pants either. But if you live long enough, no matter how manly you are, both of these two things will happen to you. Sorry. It's one of the unfortunate consequences of being alive. "
And i think the three time's it's ok for men's cry.
1.when your friends is gone going to heaven.
2.when you are a loser of a international game, because you got hurted before the last time when you start the game and you are ready for long time for this game.
3.when you won on that game
4.when your best friend cheated on you.
4.when your wife give you cold shoulder.

I don't know if one can set parameters on something like crying. Everyone is different and people change over time. I have known men, solid blue collar guys, who would never cry or express their feelings, then suddenly when they hit 40 or 50, they started crying about things. Personally I don't care what other people choose to express around me, as long as they are not trying insult me. If someone needs a cry, fine with me. Personally I don't like crying in front of people, and I am not big on sharing my feelings. But I would be lying if I said sad movies don't make me teary. You got a problem with that, I'll punch you in the jaw. I'm a boxer, so it is going to sting a bit.

I personally do not see a thing wrong with a man shedding tears. To me, it makes him human and not a "nancy". Women want men to have an emotional side and it seems the minute that they express one (crying must be the line crosser) there is a problem.
Crying is a way of dealing with emotions and feelings. Women do it all the time and it is fine and accepted. And for those men who find it awful...you are either closet criers or very self absorbed. (I am talking real life and not TV)

thank you DEE you are so right their are real men that cry because they have emotions and feelings they do not need to hide it like a lot of these boys out there who claims they are men when there are not

Is it okay to cry if you know you are dying of cancer?

Crying is very emotional. It shows respect, heart ache and it is human for anyone to cry whatever the situation. Those that feel different are cruel and hard core. JASON is selfish and self centered & not a favorite.

Much as I disliked Jason Mesnick .... in fact I dislike the whole show. It's deliberately set up to hurt people and encourage voyeurs to enjoy their pain and embarassment ..... the only saving grace this pretty and vapid man showed was his distress after saying good-bye to Molly .... otherwise I thought if I heard him describe yet another woman as "Amazing" ..... I would hurl. "Amazing" seems to be the extent of this dolt's limited vocabulary ....... At least he can cry ....

There is a thing called crying which normal men do....and then there is the thing called sobbing like a pathetic fool as Jason did on national television. Tho honestly, who is more pathetic at this point? Jason or Molly for taking him back??

I think they are both losers. He should have been ashamed to do that to a girl on national tv and then five minutes later be seen swaping spit with the other woman. I think she was stupid for taking him back. They deserve each other. I will never watch the batchlor again.

This article sounds like the old Ed Anger - My America articles published in Weekly World News. The only thing he left out was the fact that he's "PIG-BITING MAD BY CRACKY!"

Are you kidding me? Jason the Terrible was trying to act...Real men do cry. But he was crying for the camera and you can tell. Do not feel sorry for him for going on a TV show and then behaving like a small child in a candy store. Then kissing Molly on Ellen "spare me"...Jason is a selfish momma's boy.

Ha, I never understood why Molly so easily accepted being sloppy seconds. Desperation and low self-esteem is my guess. Where is her pride and self respect? Obviously neither of them know the true meaning of love so I guess they're both cut from the same cloth and deserve each other. Melissa, count your blessings. You don't need a man that runs hot and cold.
