Ever since that sorry bastard on "The Bachelor" apparently cried a bunch on national television, there's been a lot of Internet hateration directed at male tears.
First off, let me say this: I do not endorse men weeping. If another man is crying, I will quickly leave the room. If I am trapped with this wet blanket I will look away and ignore him, even going so far as to whistle to indicate that I do not notice he is dying inside. But, in spite of being remarkably uncomfortable with the human emotion known as sadness, I will say this: Drop this whole real-men-don't-cry BS.
Sure, no one wants to cry. No one wants to poop their pants either. But if you live long enough, no matter how manly you are, both of these two things will happen to you. Sorry. It's one of the unfortunate consequences of being alive.
If you disagree with me, know this: One day you will cry. And it probably won't be after a big game like Brett Favre or when talking about prisoner torture like George H. W. Bush. It'll probably be because you're exhausted and your boss insults you after busting your ass at work. Or because you're drunk and the girl you're supposed to meet up with stops returning your phone calls. Or because your friend publicly humiliates you, films it and puts it online.
My one piece of advice is this: Lie to yourself and everyone else if you want, but when you do cry, don't do it on television unless you want people on YouTube making fun of you for the rest of your life.
And if you need to cry, it certainly helps to make sure your moment drenched in tears fits into one of the following occasions:
Five Times It's OK for Men to Cry
1. When your dog dies.
2. After any permanent penile-related injury.
3. While watching "Brian's Song."
4. When you're talking about how much you love America.
5. When you're trying to convince your girlfriend you're truly sorry you cheated on her.

Too funny... some personality disordered dude tries to go Hollywood by crying it up like Tammy Faye? What a retard.
And even more retarded would be the notion that a gaggle of beautuful ladies would throng after such an obvious nut.

I wish I couls cry at times. When I was a kid it seemed to relieve the pent-up emotion, or as an avenue of release. But somehow over the years I have forgotten how.

I used to love to watch The Bachelor up til now. It seems this tv show is comparable to watching a noon time soap opera or soft porn for that matter. Too many tears from this man,as well as watching 25 women swoon over one man is too much to deal with in this real world. I'm past 21, but to me when someone is in swimsuit showing PDA on national tv I really rant that is not just a friend you are kissing. And, no chemistry with that person? Common on now, what do you call it then, cheap thrills?
I am so upset by the way Jason handled the rejection of Melissa I could just spit (not ladylike), I know, but it is warranted. He had to have been coached for ratings. What gentleman would have the audacity to say goodbye to his "fiancee" on national tv and then go on to swoon all over his 2nd choice? This show has lost me, no morales, forget about honesty, this man was cheating. I'm so looking forward to "Dancing with the Stars"! Thank you for letting me get up on my soapbox. J

I'm a woman and I quickly step out of the room if I see another WOMAN crying. So maybe I'm just hard-shelled, but if anyone feels the need to cry, I say you can but...don't prolong it. Just shed a few quiet tears and move on. If you cry for too long, I, personally, start worrying that I'll have a case of hysterics on my hands. I don't want to deal with that, and I doubt anyone else wants to either.

OK Brian Childs,
The first TWO reasons you list, most people can grasp. BUT like another stated the Birth of your Child, The passing of a Close Love One, and Maybe some will shed a Tear or Two at their Daughter's Wedding and or at their own... Ever here of Happy Tears? Now those are a bit better reasons wouldn't you say-

Jason was soo phony. Why Molly took him back was crazy. He was wrong to do what he did to Melissa! He LOVED HER AND WANTED TO MARRY HER. No one should marry him!

As a man I try not to cry except for very emotional times like your dog dying or saying the Pledge of Allegience. Recently I been crying when looking at the stock market losses. Obama is going to make us cry more and more in the near future as we watch everything we've worked for disappear down the government black hole.

Men need to cry when they feel hurt....just the same as women. No where in the bible does it say for a man to walk around like a stone and show no emotion. It is no wonder why SO many men are abusive, miserable and unhappy with themselves and life. LET IT OUT....and preferably with a loving woman that will console and understand that you are HUMAN....like we all are. I think a man that shows emotion with tears....is a real turn ON. God bless all.

What is a "nancy boy"? I've been named "Nancy" all my life, 52 years, and I swear this is the first time I've ever heard the term. I can guess the meaning, but ,tell me, why "Nancy"? Is it "Mansy Pansy"? I can't imagine. But what does the name Nancy have to do with it? I have no problem with my sexuality. Why do they?

I have never got as mad watching a television program as I did watching the Bachelor Monday night.Nobody deserves to be treated on a reality show or in person the way Melissa was treated. I really got mad earlier in the season when he sent Stephanie home ,but now I realize he did her a favor. Before Jason came out Monday on after the final rose,Molly was saying that before she could trust him again she needed some answers , and then as soon as he came out there she did everything but lick his shoe laces.T.V.show or not ,you should treat people like you want to be treated. I'm sure his parents are shaking their head saying I raised him to treat people better than that.I really feel sorry for Ty having such a cold hearted person for a parennt.

It is certainly and unashamedly okay for men to weep/cry at the funerals of their grandparents, parents, and/or siblings! If one disagrees, then you are a heartless, uncaring, sorry excuse for a human being!

Why are these type of articles written by Cro-Magnon, knuckle dragging apes. The guy that wrote this crap is either short or morbidly obese. There is a thing called evolution. As far as the bachelor, that is scripted BS. As far as man never crying in public, I think it depends. I would like to have the author alone and I guarantee after 3 minutes he would be crying like a baby and begging for someone to take pictures of it to post on the web, everywhere. So I think, he should straighten his shoulders, try to stand erect and stop dragging his knuckles on the ground. Funny, I am sur that all of that real man stuff is in his dreams, now clean your room, before your MOM comes into the basement, you 35 year old loser.
