When Warner Bros. announced they were developing a CGI movie based on the beloved '80s cartoon and toy line "ThunderCats," we were bummed at first, but also a little relieved. Actors dressed up as cat-people? Kinda screams "furry party." But then enterprising "ThunderCats" fan WormyT went and made an awesome fan trailer transforming Brad Pitt, Vin Diesel, Hugh Jackman and other actors into living, breathing, pouncing 'Cats and our minds were suddenly changed. Maybe a live-action ThunderCats movie could work.

With the CGI film not slated until 2010, there's still time to convince Hollywood to pull the plug and give us some flesh-and-blood ThunderCats. With a nod to WormyT's ingenious trailer, we present our list of who should play the many fuzzy inhabitants of Thundera. And, hey, if it's a hit, maybe we can finally get a "SilverHawks" movie.

Casting Thundercats

    Lion-O, Ryan Gosling
While Brad Pitt circa "Troy" is a great choice for Lion-O, the actor is getting a little long in the tooth for the role. (After all, Lion-O is a kid trapped in a cat-man's body). We'll go with Gosling, who has the build and the boyish, yet manly quality to pull off the role. But he should definitely die his mane, er, hair red.

    Panthro, Ving Rhames
With respect to WormyT, Vin Diesel certainly shares Panthro's distinctive chrome dome. But in the cartoon, the ThunderCat's resident tech-head was voiced by the great Earle Hyman, also known as the granddad on "The Cosby Show." So we're casting the burly Rhames, to add diversity and give a nod to the original cartoon. And come on, Rhames was born for the role.

    Slithe, Vincent Pastore
"Sopranos" fans know Pastore (aka "Big Pussy") can play a slimy bad guy, and he's certainly got the build for the character. The special effects team who worked on Gollum could be used to turn Pastore reptilian.

    Tygra, Hugh Jackman
WormyT nailed it with this one. Who else but Wolverine could play Tygra? Casting Jackman would also go a long way towards giving the jocular Tygra, and the film, some desperately needed edge. Just give him a bolo whip and you're all set.

Vultureman, Mackenzie Crook("Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Office")
Crook, aka "Pirates of the Caribbean"'s Ragetti and "The Office"'s Gareth, has the birdlike quality necessary for Vultureman, and could add some comic relief.

    Wily-Kit, Kristen Stewart
"Twilight"'s Bella has the youthful look and lithe figure for WileyKat's twin sister. There's even a bit of a feline quality to her. Maybe Bella, I mean Stewart, is a werewolf!

    Wily-Kat, Freddie Highmore
The "Spiderwick Chronicles" star is the spitting image of WileyKat and could nail his mischievous spirit. Now all he needs is a little back of explosive tricks.

    Snarf, Bill Murray (voice)
Easily the best casting in WormyT's trailer is CGI Garfield as the ThunderCats' resident Orko/Jar Jar comic relief annoyance. So why not just go for it and have Murray provide Snarf's voice? (The last thing we need is Robin Williams "snarfing" up the place.) That said, we draw the line at including those chirpy Ewok clones, The RoBear Berbils.

    Cheetara, Kristen Bell
WormyT's choice of "Farscape"'s Gigi Edgley for the Thundercats sole female is fun, but we imagine a Hollywood studio would want a bigger name actress. Bell's got the blond hair, the figure, the fanboy following. All she needs is a staff for some fancy polevault tricks.

    Jackalman, Willem Dafoe
Come on, look at that mug. Dafoe is Jackalman's long lost brother! No amount of CGI could possibly improve on the Green Goblin himself.
