There are a number of reasons why we're glad celebrity heroin addict, ex-Kate Moss beau and occasional musician Pete Doherty has somehow not managed to kill himself in the past couple of years.

First off, his new album "Grace/Wastelands," out on March 24, sounds great and features prominent guitar work from Blur's Graham Coxon along with the sort of lilting, Kinks-esque pop songwriting the Doherty fans have always enjoyed. Another reason we're glad Doherty is a survivor is the fact he's one of the few rockers out there with a genuine flair for sophisticated styling.

Indeed, under that scruffy hair and pale, haunted-eyed skull there's normally a well-cut vintage suit or some other item of timelessly dapper British menswear. Here's how to get it ...

Dockers Windowpane Suspenders
A pair of simple, stylish suspenders (or braces, in Limey parlance) transforms any outfit into a riot of dandy-ness. Doherty rocks his with Fred Perry shirts, for that classic mod/skinhead look, or white formal shirts, for a rock n' roll take on olde English gent. ($20 from Kohls.com)

Diesel Shendo Shirt in Plaid White
This Diesel button-down has just the right combination of classic formality and rumpled, raffish charm. ($105 from RevolveClothing.com)

Tonal Pattern Porkpie
The porkpie hat has become a staple of East London hipster chic in recent years, but no one can pull off a vintage chapeau quite like Pete Doherty. ($34 from UrbanOutfitters.com)

Now, throw on a few boho-bling chains and pendants, grab a glass of gin and a loosely held cigarette, and you're ready to hit the streets, Doherty-style ...
