Women prefer men who have a good sense of humor because they associate it with intelligence and honesty.Researchers in England had a group of women read 20 self-descriptions written by men, half of which were extremely funny, and the other half only mildly funny. The women rated the men who had written the extremely funny descriptions smarter, more honest and a better bet for a mate.
"The findings provide evidence that women use humor as an indication of a guy's intelligence," explained Kristofer McCarty, who led the study. "Intelligence is a very attractive quality as a clever man should be more able to provide resources for his offspring."
If you are a "funny guy" who doubts the veracity of these findings, you should probably consider the fact that you are not as funny as you think.

Sense of humor is great, but not all females like one particular type of humor. I prefer deadpan and sarcasm by far, and am actually completely turned off by guys that most girls I know think are incredibly funny. Any guy who'd be considered a "clown", no matter how popular or physically appealing is absolutely NOT attractive to me. Also I find loners much more sexy than "popular" gregarious types with loads of friends and an easy charm.
Dirty Harry was sexy as hell.

Consider it this way. I Have an excellent sense of humor and using it, is just one way of giving back to people who've made happy in the past. Whether I get laid or not, is not the point. For me it is just giving back or at the very least, saying, thank you before I hop in the casket.
