Having kids curbs marital satisfaction.Researchers at the University of Denver tracked 218 couples over eight years and found that 90 percent reported a decrease in the quality of their marriage once their first child was born. This supports a previous, much larger, study which revealed parents are more depressed than non-parents.
According to Scott Stanley, a psychology professor who worked on the Denver study, most couples experience diminished marital quality over time, but having a baby accelerates the deterioration.
Of course, this is an especially fitting Happy Hour Hero fact, since you're probably drinking because your own field research supports it.

Did they really have to do a study about this? Its not hard to figure that having drooling, screaming, pooping, crying, money draining, wastes of affection wouldn't make couples happy. Babies are stress. Theres nothing that can drive a wedge between a happy coupld faster than something that drains the finances so quickly. Bravo, University of Denver, you took eight years to figure out what every couple discovers the second the little critter pops out and the bills start flooding in, I'd say it was a grrreeat use of money.

Ok obviously you are either a young person yourself or just bitter. Yes I will say that having my daughter has diminished my husband and Is relationship in someways but in others she has improved our relationship. I won't even go into how a child is never a waste of anything let alone affection. I couldn't imagine my life without my child now. But if a baby deteriorates a relationship as direly as you make it seem all parents would be divorced.
