In 20 years, some experts believe the population of American cities will mirror the current demographics of Houston, Texas.With its exploding Latino population, Houston has become a majority-minority city. A direction Stephen Klineberg, director of the annual Houston Area Survey, thinks other American metropolises will inevitably go.
As a result of its changing demographics, Houston -- once a Republican bastion -- now has a plurality of citizens identifying as Democrats. While this shift has more Houstonians supporting gay marriage (although most still don't), their opinions on abortion remain unchanged.
But perhaps Houston's biggest demographic claim to fame is being declared "fattest city in America" a record four times. So if most cities resemble Houston in 20 years, expect longer lines at Sizzler.
