The average French person spends 8 hours and 50 minutes sleeping.According to a survey by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development, the French also lead the world in time spent each day eating, but they really establish themselves in bed, getting almost an hour more shut-eye than citizens from nations like Japan and Korea.
At 8 hours and 30 minutes, the United States comes in at number two, edging out famous nappers like Spain and Mexico.
Now that sleep is synonymous with the French, we're assuming there will be calls stateside to refer to a session of shut-eye as "freedom rest."

Last week on Friday night I slept for ten hours.
Usually I aim between 5 and 7 hours on weekends.
By having to wake up at 5:AM ,4 days a week;
I lose about 8 hours sleep total for a week.
Not always easy to sleep when I have paper work to
do.

I'm one of those who bring down the overall average sleep hours. My high school forces me to only have 5 hours of sleep a night because of homework. *sigh*

Older folks do not sleep that well. I am lucky if I sleep through the night. Now that I am retired, I do not worry about lack of sleep. Personally, I dislike parents that allow their children to sleep the morning away. My parents were early risers and therefore my dad got us up on our feet. We didn't like it, but I see the value of that training today!
