Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.

Being bullied as a child doubles a person's chances of developing psychotic behavior.

British researchers tracked 6,437 kids between the ages of 7 and 12 and, using psychological evaluations as well as interviews with parents and teachers, determined whether they had been bullied and/or had suffered psychotic episodes such as schizophrenia or delusions.

The link between bullying and psychosis became stronger the more the child was bullied. While it is not entirely clear if the bullying causes the psychotic behavior -- not vice versa -- the research suggests that it does, or that it at least triggers latent psychosis.

In a perfect world the bullied would then use their psychosis to mess with their tormentors, but in the real world they'll probably end up sitting in the cubicle next to you.
