Clayton Homes, a company specializing in modular (think Lego) and mobile homes, has rolled out the I-House, which they are claiming is 30 percent more energy efficient than traditional homes, costing only $70/month for basic energy costs. There are several green options that can be bolted onto the home, from solar panels to rainwater collectors. Also, each model comes with bamboo flooring. The basic model I-House (750 sq. ft.) goes for $74,900, and there's a larger 1,025-sq.-ft. modular home for $93K.
It sounds like a cheap housing option if you have a spit of land to put it on, or the cojones to attempt squatting on the local ball fields.
