Like everyone else in the auto world, BMW is attempting to figure out how to create more efficient cars, with the added challenge of holding on to the coveted arrogant, angry-driver demographic. BMW's main effort in this vein, Project i, is CLEVER -- Compact Low Emission Vehicle for Urban Transportation. The focus of Project i is to come up with an entire fleet of highly efficient vehicles, 2-, 3- and 4-wheel designs, some as hybrids, some as electrics.
CLEVER uses 3 wheels, and is meant to run on compressed gas. You could say it's actually running on vapor -- as with many transport ideas that have been cooked up lately. Unfortunately, we won't see any of the CLEVERs for a good five years, at which point we'll all be using jetpacks anyway. [via Autoblog]
