Wayne Allwine, the squeaky voice of Mickey Mouse since 1977, died this week, with his wife, who adorably voiced Minnie Mouse, by his side. Bearded 62-year-old Allwine was a pretty good match for Mickey's smiling mug, but not all voice actors are so compatible with their characters. After the jump, check out five characters whose voices comes from a surprising place.

Bart Simpson/Nancy Cartwright: Bart being voiced by a chick would certainly be worthy of a Nelson "ha ha" -- if Nelson didn't happen to be voiced by the same chick.

Cleveland Brown ("Family Guy")/Mike Henry: Cleveland is about to get his own spin-off show, but will the fact that his voice really comes from a Caucasian's mouth rein in some of the expected political incorrectness?
Miss Piggy ("The Muppet Show")/Frank Oz: How could we have know that the porcine temptress of our dreams was really an old bald guy with glasses?

Joker ("Batman")/Mark Hamill: Who would have thought the fair-haired boy from the bright side of the force would be voicing comic-book heavies?

Tai Lung ("Kung Fu Panda") Ian McShane: Given McShane's most famous character's disdain for the Chinese and love of the term c*cks*cker, it's odd to hear him vocalizing a character named Tai Lung in a kid's movie.

A while ago I had some similar finds... foreign movies and series get dubbed here in Germany rather than subtitled, and somethimes it's funny who lent their voice to completely different actors.
Gottfried Kramer occasionally lent Christopher Lee, Anthony Quinn and a lot of other people his voice; the ones I know are Oscar the Grouch and K.I.T.T.
Gert-Günther Hoffmann has been the usual voice for Sean Connery for something like 30 years, and of Paul Newman and William Shatner.
Klaus Sonnenschein voiced Danny DeVito, Morgan Freeman, Bob Hoskins, Gene Hackman...
He also provided the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors /when it wasn't singing), and that of Count Dooku. Audrey and Dooku being voiced by the same person is funny enough; now add to that that the dubbing artist's last name means "sunshine".
Randolf Kronberg provided the voice of DeForest Kelley (Dr McCoy of Star Trek), and of Eddie Murphy.
Mind, it's mostly a matter of having the same speaker, not the same voice.

A list like this is incomplete without the inclusion of Kevin Clash as the voice of Elmo.

Billy West doing the voices for a large variety of characters on Futurama would also have been a good choice for this list.

I spoke briefly with Kevin Clash, years ago, and what's even funnier than the visual mismatch is that when not recording toddler-muppet voice-overs, he sounds like Billy Dee Williams. Two minutes on the phone 14 years ago and I still haven't gotten over that little bit of cognitive dissonance.

Andy Richter as the voice of Mort the lemur in the Madagascar movies and the animated series Penguins of Madagascar. Hilarious work and I had no clue it was him.
