The Batman we know and love is six feet under, and now the original Robin is putting on the Batsuit to become the new Caped Crusader. Bruce Wayne's son, Damian, is also joining up as the new Robin, and everything has suddenly turned upside-down. "Where at first Batman was grimmer and more driven," explains Executive Editor Dan Didio. "Now he's a lot lighter, he's a lot more fun. And on the reverse side where you used to have the carefree Robin, you have a grim and gritty and angry little boy being Robin now." (via Comics Alliance)

Bruce Wayne is not really dead, his consciousness is actually traveling through parallel worlds, sent there by the Omega Sanction.
Yes, I am a geek.

I like my Batman like I like my coffee: Tall, Dark, and Gritty (I use a lot of splenda).
Screw light hearted.

call me a purist, but there is only one Batman. I cannot believe that DC is stooping to making the book like the campy tv series of the 60-70s. ugh, and I thought

I agree with everyone else.
To me, Batman always has been, and always will be, Bruce Wayne. I hate it when writers just throw the cowl on any old Tom, Dick or Harry. (Pun intended.)
It's especially stupid how, if they were trying to capitalize on the popularity surge of Batman among gamers with the release of Batman: Arhkam Asylum by printing ads on the backs and inside of the Batman comics, then they should realize that people aren't going to want to read about the exploits of anyone BUT Bruce Wayne as Batman.
BRUCE WAYNE FOREVER!!!!

Ashen7 put it best, Bruce Wayne is Batman. PERIOD. I hate this trash they are starting to throw out, like dick, his son(which in itself is laughable), or anyone else trying to take the mantle. I just ignore anything after Final Crisis and Under the hood crap. Some of Batman's defining characteristics come from Jason Todd dying and staying dead. The fact that Grayson wanted to be his own man. The fact that he didn't have a son. I know they are trying to create and draw and update the character, but its just garbage and a stretch of imagination to think you could replace him.
