5. Wes Anderson, American Express

Many filmmakers and actors have extolled the virtues of American Express, equating crippling debt with personal expression. (Easy to do when you have an exclusive Black card.) Indie quirkmeister Anderson directed and starred in the most memorable, offering a filmmaking primer that involves a Jason Schwartzman cameo and some unruly birds. It's like a mini Wes Anderson movie, only with fewer pretentious hipsters nodding appreciatively in the theater.

4. Bill Cosby, Jell-O Pudding Pops
If you were a child between the years 1984 to 1992, you pretty much did whatever Cosby told you to. And if that meant favoring Jell-O pudding over, say, My-T-Fine, so be it. Though there were many great ads, "The Cos" hosting a newscast devoted solely to pudding pop coverage is still a favorite. (Those swirl pops were mighty tasty.) The ads are still a go-to hack comedian reference, despite the fact that Bill hasn't shilled for J-E-L-L-O in years.

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Japanese energy drink
We're pretty sure this infamous spot is for a Japanese energy/coffee beverage, but honestly, it's anyone's guess. The sheer madness on display here -- the beverage changes Arnold into a weird superhero/game-show host for some reason -- is enough to make us order truckloads of whatever it is they're selling. Right after we stop having a seizure.

2. Mean Joe Greene, Coca-Cola
Who doesn't get a little misty-eyed from this classic? Coke tasted so much better in the days before New Coke came along and ruined everything. It was so refreshing, it could even get Mean Joe Greene to give up his beloved jersey. Which begs the question: Did the kid ever realize what a bum deal he got? It's not like he could sell off Greene's discarded sweat rag on eBay back then.

1. Cindy Crawford for Pepsi
There was a time, before Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie, when Cindy Crawford's mole was the hottest mole in the world. Pepsi harnessed the power of the Crawford mole in a series of commercials, the most famous of which found the supermodel downing a cold beverage on a hot day much to the delight of a pair of young can-design aficionados. Unfortunately, Pepsi also teamed Crawford with the likes of Little Richard and Michael Richards, thereby decreasing the mole's appeal by at least 50 percent.
