A guy with a girlfriend will stare at another woman for as long as a single man, but a female in a relationship is less interested in looking at the opposite sex.

Researchers had men and women between the ages of 17 and 26 rate a series of photos of the opposite sex. Regardless of relationship status, both the men and women tended to agree among their gender on overall masculinity/femininity of the pictured.

But, before giving their ratings, the women with boyfriends studied the photos for a shorter period time than the single ladies did, while the taken men stared for just as long as their unattached brethren.

In a perfect world this could be used to explain to your girl any ogling-the-waitresses-for-too-long incident, however this world (and your relationship) is far from perfect.
