An umpire at a high school baseball game in Iowa ejected all 100 fans in attendance for "being mouthy." Perhaps more surprisingly, there were 100 fans in attendance at a high school baseball game.

Umpire Don Briggs said he made the decision after the crowd became unruly in the fifth inning following a controversial call. "I know it sounds like I'm the bad guy, but it was the crowd," Briggs told The Des Moines Register. "If I got the control to ask one person to leave, I feel like I can ask them all to leave."

A school superintendent called the decision an "overreaction" and convinced Briggs to resume play after a 40-minute delay.

Umpires suggest that similar incidents can be avoided by shouting out more innocuous comments, like "Good eye!" "May the best team win!" and "I enjoy baseball!"
