Unlike dogs, cats don't understand cause-and-effect connections between objects.Researchers ran 15 felines through a series of tests involving strings with treats attached to the end. When there was just one such string, the cats knew what to do. But after another treat-less string was introduced, none of the cats were able to consistently figure out which string to pull -- a task most dogs pick up easily.
Granted, cat people will defend their pets by saying they just aren't as obsessed with accommodating humans. This will make their loneliness more bearable.

Study fail.
Dogs eat their own poop. Cats hide theirs. Case closed.
