Given that there are an almost limitless number of ways one can kill and dismember his fellow man, it is surprising that horror is the film genre most prone to remakes. The latest retread will be of "Stepfather," the 1987 film that made everyone hate their parents even more for getting divorced.
While it's hard to glean if the new "Stepfather" will be any good from its trailer on FilmDrunk -- although we do appreciate the gratuitous bikini shots -- given the track record of horror remakes the chances are pretty low. Sure, occasionally a movie like "The Ring" or "The Fly" impresses the second (or third) time around. But, as long as the original is still available on DVD, most of the rest weren't worth the effort. What do you think the all-time most unnecessary horror film do-over is?

Does the Passion of The Christ constitute a remake? It's a horror film that's been done before. Plus, Mel Gibson.
Otherwise, Psycho is pretty awful. However, My Bloody Valentine In 3D is the best horror film remake which displays a midget getting pounded in the skull with a pick axe and then slammed into the ceiling as blood hits you in 3d.
