There's a movement afoot on Twitter to insinuate Stan, Cartman and Kenny, et al, into the highest corridors of power.

Followers of ABC News White House correspondent Jake Tapper's Twitter feed already know that his avatar is a South Park-style cartoon of himself (made for a 2006 Nightline segment). Tapper's feed is teh awesome, mixing up-to-the-minute political reporting with hilarious pop culture digressions. As a result, he's very popular on Twitter.

When Fox News's Major Garrett joined Twitter recently, a campaign to have him use a South Park avatar sprang up almost immediately. Garrett told me Friday that he'd try to figure it out over the weekend.

Now, the South Park fans have made it their mission to convert all White House correspondents into crudely animated characters. (I guess so we'll match Congress?) If Garrett does it, I will too, although the Tweeps have already rejected my substitution of Leader Desslock for a South Park icon.

If successful, perhaps America can look forward to Terrance and Phillip asking about health-care reform, or Robert Gibbs telling us all, "Respect my authoritah!"
