Bernie Madoff, 71, has been sentenced to 150 years -- the maximum prison time sought by government prosecutors. To add insult to rest-of-your-natural-life-in-jail injury, judge Denny Chin made sure it was known that none of Madoff's friends or family bothered to submit letters attesting to the disgraced financier's character. So if we've learned anything from the Madoff saga, it's that stealing massive amounts money from everybody you know is a terrific way to end up friendless and unloved in prison.

U know, the guy got what he had coming to him, his wife too and (not sure where is two sons that were actually working with him stand) but i am sure the two sons will, hopefully, get their fare share too soon.
Having said the above on my comments, and after reading other people`s comments. I wonder why hasn`t anyone mentioned the FBI or the SEC.. which were repeatedly warned abt his dealings.
Now that the main suspects is behind bars.. isn`t it the time to go after the authorities !!!!! and get someone indirectly with BM`s scams also charged.. ( how abt the guy/s that were informed early in the years, but choose to disregard the alligations ?? )..
Why is the SEC.. not being put on trial. !!!
Let me know ur opinion.

It really baffles me how - in this day and age - ANYBODY thinks they can get away with this sort of thing - yes, there's probably a lot of blame to go around but what concerns me is the effect this episode had on the rest of the market...

Let's hope he doesn't go "unloved" in prison. Waterboard him until he reveals where he hid the rest of the money.

Remember that ol' Bernie may have done his smaller investors a big favor. His accounts were covered by up to $ 500,000 in SIPC protection. So while most other Americans lost anywhere from 25-65% of their nesteggs to crooks like Vanguard and Fidelity,("Just buy and hold" - Yeah, Right!) Bernie's investors will get ALL of their money back. Now...isn't that a bit ironic!
