In a lopsided fight that even Don King would have had trouble promoting, a burglar in Oxford, England, got more than he bargained for when he broke into the home of Frank Corti, a 72-year-old former junior boxing champion. Upon spotting the intruder, Gregory McCalium, in his hallway, Corti dodged a knife attack and delivered two mean right hooks that left McCalium battered and down for the count. Police arrived to find Corti subduing McCalium, who looked like he had been in "a car accident," according to one lawyer.
"I was scared when he first drew the knife but most people would have acted in the same way," Corti said. "If needed to, I would do it again."
McCalium was found guilty of aggravated burglary, but he's apparently already planning his next robbery: the home of a Russian man named Drago.

Hey...My Grandpops is in his eighties and a former boxing champ as well...he's still as strong as an ox and can still throw and hit like a sledgehammer...the extreme conditioning of fighters, wrestlers and soldiers makes them fierce warriors.I should know, I'm all three (well, former USMC) Never underestimate that little old guy, he might give you a serious whoopin!!

My Dad is 64 years old and a former Marine also. . He wouldn't think twice about beating someone's ass who broke into our house.. The sad part is here in the USA, the scum would turn around and press charges for assault.

Your dad gets a Semper Fi from me! Nowadays beating someone with your fists when confronted by an intruder is almost unheard of, especially when that person is armed. I love the grit this old timer showed and I do know I'd rather use my hands instead of a weapon..make sure he got the point. As Americans we have the right to bear arms and defend ourselves and our property...God Bless!

That grandpa was stupid and alot of you are too. All it takes is the guy to have a gun and its over. Possessions aren't worth getting killed for....next time grandpa might get shot for his $50.

A have a couple of uncles and a father who are all 80+. All 3 are army vets and one of them took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. These guys are all STILL northwoods Wisconsin deer hunters, and can still cut and split wood better than guys half their age. These are 3 more old dudes who wouldn't hesitate to defend their homes or their families. Honorable guys to the core.

Lol if that were in America the robber probably would have been able to sue this guy for assault and battery and not warned his hands are considered to be lethal weapons.

The burglar was lucky. I never was a boxer and I am 85. If he breaks into my house he gets shot.

I'm with you on that one, John. Until I saw it was a man who hurt him I thought this write up was about my Mama who is 69 years old. She is a tiny little Southern Christian woman...but DO NOT piss her off! LOL!

I am also 72 years old. One would have to get past my .357 magnum first if breaking into my home. Don't let age fool you!

If one streetfights with a trained boxer,God help him because boxing training is beyond brutal and he will hurt you.An old boxer retains that brutailty.

Be ever mindful that most Grand Masters of self defense tactics are over the age of 60 and many into their late 70's and beyond.
