Anyone who has spent time overseas knows that advertisements in the rest of the English-speaking world tend to be more in-your-face than the ones back home.
A perfect example is this PSA from New Zealand, a highway billboard which features a boy whose face bleeds when it rains, ostensibly to remind motorists to adjust to the weather conditions.
While the ad agency that created the billboard claims there hasn't been a traffic fatality since it went up, we find it hard to believe such a disturbing (and realistic) image wouldn't also cause dangerous rubber-necking.
After the jump, check out the video and decide for yourself.

WHY DONT THEY COME OUT WITH A GOOD AD SUCH AS * THE KID CRUSHED UNDER A TRUCK & HIS LEGS LOOK LIKE HAMBURGER MEAT IS COMING OUT OF THEM OR BETTER YET CRUSHED & THE STOMACH IS RIPPED OPEN WITH THE GUTS COMING OUT * NOW THAT WOULD CATCH YOUR ATTENTION SOoooo MUCH THAT YOU VERY WELL MIGHT RUN INTO THE CAR OR TRUCK IN FRONT OF YOU & IT WOULD ALSO MAKE YOU PUKE ****************

THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO LET PEOPLE SEE WHAT IT TAKES IN A SECOND HOW THEY CAN BECOME A BLOODY MESS. BUT IF WE DO THIS IN CALIFORNIA WE SHOULD SHOW THIS ON THE NEWS FIRST. TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE NEW BILLBOARDS COMING OUT CAUSE IT IS SOMETHING WE'LL LOOK AT AND THEN CRASH OURSELVES. MAYBE A DEAD PERSON ON THE TABLE IN THE MORGUE TAGGED. WOULD HIT THE SPOT. OH YEAH,WITH A CELLPHONE ON ITS HAND......

Great idea and, obviously, it works.
It would be interestying to now, historically, how many deaths occured on the same stretch of road and over the same Easter period during the past several years.

Rubber necking? Rubber necking is like a disease. There are those who always do it no matter what and those of us who would just as soon not see a mangled body or smashed up car under any circumstance.I'm afraid that putting up such a billboard would be a waste of time considering most deadly accidents are caused by drunks and kids not paying attention to what they're doing. If drunks only ever killed drunks and the afore mentioned kids only wrecked the family car and came away with a few bumps and bruises..I'd be just fine with that.Unfortunately..it rarely works out that way.Man..what a world...=:(

That might be the coolest ad to get a point a crossed. How much more to the point can it be. You drive like a jack*** this is what could happen you either kill someone in your car or another. If this ad really bothers you then you need a reality check.

These shock tactics I despise with a passion. I lose my sister to a car accident. So much do I hate them I no longer watch Irish TV. This is mild VERY mild compared to have we have running on our TV, if you don't believe me.

May not be suitable for younger people.
Wither or not they work. I don't know. It just brings up to many bad and familiar memories

It's an attention getter. It seems, however, it would entice rubber-neckers when they are the very ones who should be keeping their eyes on the road.

the people of the united states are such p***ies! they get woken up from their sugar-coated world by ads like these and find it "offensive"?!?! wtf! NEWSFLASH: yes that image is disturbing but its no where NEAR as disturbing as seeing a fleshy-once-living girl or boy laying on the road bleeding! its better that its just some billboard bleeding and not some little girl or boy that you hit because you weren't driving safely!
