
It's time again for the national pastime's midsummer classic. But let's not forget football is actually the national pastime. Then there's the thing about midsummer technically falling around June 20, making that weekend's newfangled interleague games -- including an enthralling match-up between Toronto and Washington -- the real midsummer classics. So basically, it's just the All-Star Game.
Sure, the Home Run Derby offers excitement in the way of mixing batting practice with players reenacting the somewhat-bygone steroid era. Then you have the game, which features some of the best ballplayers in the world, competing for home-field advantage in the World Series. Why does that make sense? No one is quite sure. We may just tune in to hear the chants for Pujols, because we're immature and they make us chuckle.
