The word muff has had tawdry connotations since 1699. So surely there were snickers a few generations back when the Muff family renamed the bucolic street that runs through their property in a small New Zealand town "Muff Road."But that's not what really has the modern-day residents of this suggestively named pathway in such a crotchety mood. Instead, they're irked because their street's signage is regularly stolen, and have asked the district council to switch "Muff Road" back to its original name of "Ohapi Road" now that the Muff family no longer resides in the area.
"It will just stop this ridiculous stealing of the road signs and link in with the history of the place," said resident Roger Payne of the request.
Seriously, fellas, do you think having a pilfered "Muff Road" street sign in your dorm room is going to increase your chances of getting laid?
