A new survey has found one in 10 adult males has had unprotected sex due to being too embarrassed to buy a condom.
Technically there's nothing embarrassing about purchasing rubbers; in fact, you're announcing to the world (or at least the 7-11 staff) that you have a penis and you intend to use it.
Yet some of us still experience a lingering sense of trauma from our first prophylactic-purchasing experience in which we nervously scanned the aisles for any adult acquaintances before worrying the checkout lady might burst out laughing when we plopped down our goods.
So be honest -- do you still feel a vestige of shame when paying for your Magnums? (And if you really do use Magnums and still feel ashamed, what the hell is wrong with you?)

I work as a cashier and to be honest i rarely even look at the customers no matter what they're buying, you just kind of look through them when you're working. my concern is the scanner, bagging and how long until my break/the end of my shift. we're more likely to talk to each other about stupid/rude customers than what those customers actually buy.
i think i once told my fellow employee about someone who bought a box of condoms because all they bought was a 12 pack of condoms and some children's tylenol because those seemed like 2 strange things to buy together but honestly if that person came in the next day and bought something else i probably wouldn't have recognized them
people overestimate how much strangers care about what they do

When I was younger on two occasions I had to go buy condoms for two of my friends because they were too embarrassed to buy them themselves.
So it has never been a problem for me, dang, as a kid Mum would send me to the store and I usually had to buy her tampons too while there.
This sort of stuff has never been a problem.
If you're too embarrassed to buy condoms maybe you're not mature enough for sex!

Only in America is something as simple as buying condoms an embarrassment. This just tells me that we as a general society need to be teaching children (read: Teens) about safe sex. If America was more comfortable in it's own sexuality, this wouldn't even be an issue.
People are going to have sex. *Gasp* I know! Right? But, as shocking as that news is, it's true.
Instead of teaching the next generation that sex is bad and evil and telling them NO (which, BTW, just about any parent will tell you, that's a guaranteed way to make them want it that much more), we oughta be teaching them how to have safer sex. Then, as adults, condoms don't become a Taboo, simply part of the grocery list.
I personally think it's a little ridiculous that a woman's menstrual cycle (and products for said cycle) are less embarrassing to buy than little latex prophylactics. In fact, I'd rather buy years and years worth of condoms than have to avoid buying tampons for 9 months because they're not needed. =)

i am a girl. and the only reason i get freaked out when buying condoms or such things along those lines is that i hope i dont run in to a family member. they dont know what goes on in my love life.
and its not the cashier that gets me ... its the walk from the condom isle to the register. if one of them saw me every one else would know within five min.... i am 19 tho. but holidays are awkward enough with out my dad knowing that i had sex. hed kill my boyfriend,,,
