There's not an office drone alive who hasn't shaken a fist in the air and yelled "Khan!!!" upon learning that his employer had finally gotten its act together and installed an Internet filter. Most corporate executives don't realize that we need to offset each TPS report with a clip of people nailing themselves in the genitals with fireworks.Hopefully, you'll be gratified to know that, aside from an elite team of "new media" specialists, White House staffers suffer under the same draconian strictures as we do. Asylum has learned that White House staffers can't access Twitter, Facebook, personal email or a host of other Internet time-wasters.
How far up the ladder do these restrictions go? After the jump, see the Obama administration heavy hitter who exposed this satisfying nugget.

I lost my job in early December. It was the first time in my life that I was laid off from a job. We have 3 young children and I can't even begin to describe the feeling I had knowing that I had no income and couldn't find a job. A friend of mine told me that he was doing well working full time on an eBay success system. He told me that there were hundreds of thousands of people making a full time living with eBay. That was all well and good but I didn't have any money to invest and I knew I didn't have the skills that would be needed. He sent me this link http://tr.im/ebaysuccesssystem and told me to check out this system. It was my Christmas miracle because with virtually no investment I got in the game. Now I'm making much more money than I ever have and, believe it or not, I'm now working less time everyday than I used to spend commuting back and forth to my old job.

"White House staffers can't access Twitter, Facebook, personal email or a host of other Internet time-wasters."
Makes great sense. They're paid to do a job, not check personal e-mail, or follow friends, celebrities and their time-wasting activities.
Find some other news to report; this is a waste of time......

"White House staffers can't access Twitter, Facebook, personal email or a host of other Internet time-wasters." Of course NOT! And why should they be permitted to waste their time on this nonsense? I doubt it's part of the job we taxpayers are paying them to do. This measure is a time saver; stop reading into it.......

This is a prohibition only while at work, and makes perfect sense in terms of managing time and work effort. I would love to be able ot stop my direct reports from wasting hours of the work day chatting with their buddies on the internet. Obviously they can't impose such a prohibition while workers are not at work. Think people!

I use my personal e-mail quite often to communicate at work because the Govt site is DOWN folks, and work has to be sent out...Not having a personal e-mail can be bad, because then your family or the doctor, plumber, has to call you. What in the hell is the difference? We all have personal lives. Sounds like the Obama administration is afraid of their staffers leaking just how horrible this administration is, and its not just a bad dream.

In the real world employees are restricted from Internet access. I agree it's a real time waster. And if you have a business (or official government site) you can't have the lunatic fringe phishing viruses that destroy everything.
.
One time someone went to the Internet, inadvertently picked up a virus from a porn site and it spread through the company's system like wild fire. The IT guys had their hands full fixing that. Quite embarrassing & expensive to be caught with your site down...

Of course an employer can insist that his employees not use their paid for time to take care of personal business, not carrying on their dating regimen.
Get real. This is a non-everythig piece of crap from the small minds at AOL. It deserves to be ignored. Pay attention, bloggers.

Bear in mind, they can control your words if you use the Govt Net for your e-mail. If you use your personal e-mail, they have no control. Its all about control folks. I work in Washington. Obama is a controlling socialist, learning toward communist regime.

Twitter, Facebook, MySpace....all are rife with security problems and being hacked to death. Why not give the bad guys a portal to invade the center of the Administrative branch of our government? Those White House yuppies all have Blackberries anyhow, so they can still "tweet" while sitting on a taxpayer provided crapper. It will still count as their break, though.

That's good b'cause you got alot of nosy people out there going about ur bussiness. I don't trust those social websites I have friends' who R into those sites & they're trying to tell me I should register, but I don't like them I like my own E-mail acct better. So do a good job pres. Barack Obama don't let ur gaurd down by getting into those websites.I'm sure staying out of it 4 sure.

I would take your comment more seriously if you could spell 'your' and 'for'. Social networking sites contribute to the fact that a large portion of our society has become so lazy that they can no longer speak or write at a level that would allow them to get a professional job.
Taxpayers are footing the bill for the salaries of those employed to work in the white house. I don't have time to surf the net at work, my employer is not paying me to twitter, google, or check out your face or space, so why should those that are employed by our hard earned tax money be any different.
