Kids have a lot of things to worry about these days, but until Monday, scooterjacking wasn't one of them. That all changed when an 11-year-old boy from Ohio was arrested earlier this week for attempting to steal two kids' scooters with a plastic gun.The incident unfolded at a park outside Cincinnati, where Kyle Harrison, 8, and his sister Ryan, 11, were confronted while riding on their metal scooters. According to the police report, a boy they didn't know told them, "We're going to play a game. I'm going to take your scooter," and then brandished a real-looking gun.
The siblings took off on their scooters and the boy chased after them with the toy gun, stopping only after they reached their father. Cops found the perpetrator and took him to a juvenile detention center to await a court appearance.
Though we don't condone the robbery, we think it would have been amusing to see the kid try to flee on a hot scooter.

the kids thought the gun was real and they took off on their scooters, the kid could've shot them if the gun was real and it had to be in ohio there is always something going on in ohio

It sounds cute to hear the story, but it reveals a disturbing thought process - one that needs to be set right NOW! This kid needs to be charged with armed robbery and sentenced to some time in juvenile detention. Or, better yet, send the kid back to school for a week wearing a T-shirt that prominantly displays the words "DON'T PLAY WITH ME. I'M A THIEF." Maybe the resultant teasing he gets from his classmates will convince him of the error of his ways.

I don't believe making him wear a shit that say Don't play with me I am a thief. Is a very good punishment. If the kid gets picked on that can cause serious problems for the kid down the road. Many of are murders and rapists and child molesters and child abusers in are jails, were bullied as children and feel they need to feel like they need to get back at those people. Just think about the shooting at high schools those kids most of time if not all the time do those shooting to get back at people. If the kid was forced to wear the shirt just think that it could cause more lives to be lost if he had somehow got his hands on a real gun. I am 14 and I know this I think you need to put more thought in what you put up on this bored especially about children.

Or two other things could happen like:
The boy is too young and he commits suicide because of the teasing you want to inflict on him.
Or, he gets older takes a real gun and sprays his classmates with real bullets then eats one like so many overly teased children have done and hit the news with. Really, the boy needs a strong spanking by the parents, it's not the job of other people's kids to teach him a lesson that just makes the problem worse!

If they are thinking this sort of stuff, although it's was all play, correct? But, if not, someone need to sit them down and have a talk with them because, as they get older, they tend to really take it to another level, it then become REAL, and then Jail! Councel them now, before it's too late!

No, that is not funny at all. And it is a sad day when you think it is. Today, it is a scooter; tomorrow it will be a bank, or your defenseless grandmother. Today, it is a toy gun; tomorrow it is a real gun. Today nobody gets hurt; tomorrow, somebody gets killed. -- No, that is not funny in any way, shape, or form. It shows a drastic distortion of the boy's core value system, and it is truly tragic. Somebody needs to get a hold of that boy and turn his life around, before he becomes a danger to himself and others.

You're right Diane. And noone can convince me that it wasn't an attempt to mimic the sorry TV shows and movies that kids are raised with. Unless, of course, his parents are criminals and actually taught this behavior to him.
C'mon, anyone want to explain where an 11 year-old got such an idea if not from TV? You know our media feeds this crap to our kids. How about a little more "Leave It To Beaver", and a little less of "Women Behind Bars".

Let's see...the perp is an 11 y.o. boy which puts him in about the 5th grade, going into 6th. That is plenty old enough to know right from wrong. That he brandished a "real-looking gun" says that he put some amount of thought to what he was going to do before he did it. 11-13 years of age is a serious transition period for kids in general, but moreso for boys. We are actually lucky this happened now. Nobody got hurt, and the kid-perp is in custody and off the playground at least for the time being. Maybe with some counseling this is the last time he will act out to this extent. And don't give me any "liberal bleeding heart" crap about the counseling. The kid-perp doesn't need a beating, he needs to tell someone why he did what he did. That's called counseling.

mark my word this little thief will grow into an animal that will no doubt take someones life while stealing a car or a poor clerk in some little stop&rob working to make a living to support their family all so he can buy some drugs. lets give him the same chance he would give you, yep that's right shoot him!

Shoot him? Hahaha, hopefully your joking, I have no problem in thining out the world's population by killing violent criminals it would be a great thing, however he's only 11 years old, everyone makes mistakes and especially young kids who are fairly influenced by movies and tv.

funny? at 11 kids know what they are doing! He should be charged with armed robbery! the only ones who should get the counseling is the ones who got robbed. wake up people , if an 11 year old is already pulling guns its pretty much to late for him , his lifestyle is pretty much set.if it were my kids, the doctors would still be trying to figure a way to get that guy out of his anal cavity.... think id get counseling?
