"Bourne Identity" director Doug Liman watched in horror as a 250-foot cargo ship rammed full speed into a motorboat early yesterday morning on the Hudson River. "If I had Jason Bourne survive that, people would start throwing popcorn at the screen," he later commented.Survive they did, in no small part to Liman, who was about to dock his own boat when the collision went down, but instead jetted out to the crash site. While the cargo ship had continued on unfettered, the four occupants of the smaller craft were in the water, clinging to their capsized boat.
Liman and his friend, producer Avram Ludwig, were able to pull them up to safety, scripting their most improbable ending yet.
