You can't stop progress, especially when progress is awesome. Slated for 2011, the Chevy Volt is on the way and we can forgive the really lame electrical pun name when confronted with some of the car's stats. For starters, driving 100 miles will set you back $2.75 in fuel costs. That figures to 230 miles per gallon city driving, something you could previously only get from a Red Bull-addled rickshaw driver.
Because every electric car has a catch, the Volt has a range of only 40 miles on a single electricity charge; however it does have a fuel engine that boosts the range to 300 miles. The Volt will clock in around $40,000, but on the plus side it looks kind of cool and resembles an actual car, unlike some of its dorkier predecessors.
