Polling shows The Beatles are the most popular band among Americans.The Pew Research Center surveyed 1,815 Americans over 15 years old on their opinions of 20 popular bands, past and present. Forty-nine percent of respondents said they liked the Fab Four "a lot," with fairly consistent support throughout each age group. In fact, even modern-day artists like Kanye West and Coldplay were far less popular than The Beatles among 16-to-29-year-olds.
The Eagles and Johnny Cash finished a distant second and third overall, and Madonna stood out for being the most disliked.
Although, we suspect if The Beatles had bragged about sleeping with Dennis Rodman folks would think less of their music, too.

I love the Beatles. They are one of my favorite bands and the 2nd most represented band in terms of songs in my itunes library. However, I also believe that they are SOO overrated. At least during the first 1/2 of their career.

The beatles were a great, great band. I think in the begining half of their career, it was more of the stage presence that got them popular. And of course in the second half it was their lyrics and such. Im glad they're still number one!!
