"Miss Universe" may be an exaggeration, but we can't really assign it a "World Series" level of presumption until a comely lass from another planet shows her face, or whatever else would make her a contender for the intergalactic beauty crown.

As it stands, the pageant is a nice reminder that while we earthlings come in different colors, shapes and national origins, we can all appreciate a woman who is willing to strut across a stage in a bathing suit and 4-inch heels. Here are this year's contestants:
