Men with genial personalities make an average of $2,500 a year less than their more aggressive colleagues.

Researchers at the University of Essex grouped nearly 3,000 men into five personality types, before surveying them on salary information. This was even after accounting for other factors such as education, occupation, work experience and training.

The researchers did add that the agreeable may make up for the salary hit by having better overall mental well-being.

Or it could be that the overly conscientious didn't want to upset the researchers with any sad admission of how life regularly beats them down with their own thoughtfulness.
